The land has put on winter.
The poplars are naked.
Rounded mountain tops
snow white,
peek above
black ploughed fields
on rolling hills.

Scattered obsidian glints
catch the low western sun,
sparkle like Christmas lights,
on and off, on and off,
as the road winds.

The spirit of mist
descends
far off.
