Introducing Mariné Petrossian




Mariné Petrossian lives in Yerevan. She is the author of three poetry books published in Armenia (Բանաստեղծություններ, 1993, Կանոնական պատմություններ, 1998, Հայաստանի ծովափին, 2006) and another two translated and published in France (J'apporterai des pierres, 1995, Erevan, 2003, Editions Comp'Act).

Mariné writes also essays. Her essay “Antipoetry, or When the Poet Does Not Seek an Alibi”, on contemporary Armenian poetry, has aroused a controversy in Armenian literary circles.

Mariné has participated in several poetry festivals and gatherings, such us the XXI International Biennial of Poetry in Liège, 1998; Struga Poetry Evenings, Macedonia, 2000, 2002; International Conference on Armenian Contemporary Literature, UCLA, 2001; Huitième Salon du Livre d'Europe centrale et orientale, Die-Drome, France, 2001. In 2005 she won a UNESCO-Aschberg Bursary for Artists and was granted a residency at Djerassi Resident Artists Program, Woodside, California.
