Խոսք` Սարմենի, երաժշտ. Կ. Զաքարյանի
Սեղանն է առատ,
Դիմացն` Արարատ,
Հնչում են երգեր
ՈՒրախ ու զվարթ.
Լցրե'ք, ընկերնե'ր,
Բաժակները լի,
Թող հայոց գինին
Մեզ անուշ լինի:
Փարք տանք Մայր Հողին,
Արևի շողին,
Գինի պարգևող
Հայոց խաղողին.
Լցրե'ք, ընկերնե'ր...
Փա'ռք տանք նոր կյանքին,
Հողի մշակին,
Որ միշտ կանաչեն
Մեր դաշտն ու այգին.
Լցրե'ք, ընկերնե'ր...
Գովե'նք դարեդար
Աշխատանքն արդար,
Մեր մեծ աշխարհի
Արևը պայծառ.
Լցրե'ք, ընկերնե'ր...

My Armenian is not the best. Yet, I can mostly read Sarmen. Is he the deepest? Most profound?
Are his best known poems memorable? Do they capture being Armenian on a broad everyday scale? Resounding yes to both... for me.
As much an ashough as a poet. Maybe the last as songwriting and poetry have diverged.
Seghanneh Arad... I never tire of this lovely simple song.
